Remodeling your kitchen is a substantial investment and extensive home project. When you make the decision to move forward with a kitchen remodel, you likely have an idea in your mind of what you want it to look like and what features you want to have. A big ask we hear when we are remodeling a kitchen is: “Can we create more storage?” Clear countertops are in, creating a clean, minimalistic look, hiding appliances, outlets, and cookware in cabinetry. With so many popular kitchen appliances these days (air fryers, Instapots, toaster ovens, mixers, and more) finding stylish and innovative storage solutions can feel impossible. However, we are here to tell you that there is a wide variety of creative and innovative kitchen cabinetry to meet all your storage needs.

Appliance Hide & Seek

If you want that clean feel and decluttered look, make sure you include large appliance storage in your kitchen cabinetry design and plan. For large appliances that are not used daily, (air fryer, crockpot, Instapot, etc.) large rolling pull-out drawers in a pantry or kitchen island can be installed for easy but hidden access.

For appliances used daily, (coffee pot, microwave, blender, toaster, mini-fridge, or wine fridge) you can still accomplish hiding them, sometimes even while using them! By installing a counter-level cabinet with a sliding shelf and outlets inside, you can easily make your morning coffee and toast without having to move the appliance out of the cabinet. Microwaves and mini fridges can be fitted with a built-in false front cabinet camouflaging them with the rest of your chosen cabinetry.

For thin kitchen items (think baking sheets, cutting boards, and platters) a roll-out thin cabinet can hold these items upright and organized, taking up little space with a lot of storage. Pegged drawer organizers are another good solution for plates and bowls, holding them safely in place in a deep roll-out drawer. Pull-out systems offer great storage for awkward spaces.

Creative Cabinetry Trends and Styles

With these inventive storage solutions also comes beautiful style. Over the years, kitchen cabinetry trends have changed and evolved, and some have even been recycled back into style. Here are the latest trends in kitchen cabinetry:

  • Stained white oak cabinets
  • Floor to ceiling cabinetry
  • Metal grate cabinets
  • Floating cabinets and shelving
  • Cabinets with interior painting
  • Glass door cabinets
  • Subtle Multi-colored cabinets
  • Sliding cabinetry
  • Grain/Textured cabinetry
  • Hardware-free cabinets

Creative Add-Ons

Want to add just a little more? Consider using cabinet lighting to help enhance the look of your kitchen. Installing under cabinet lighting is a popular feature, however, there is also the option of installing automatic lighting that illuminates when a cabinet door is opened allowing for easy navigation at night as well as a stylish touch.
