For example two staff members, Joel and Stacey, have been studying to become certified in CKBR (Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodelers). What does that mean to you? Well, it means we will be on the up and up on all things Kitchen and Bath! We like to take care of our customers to the fullest extent and that includes continuing education.
To qualify for the CKBR designation, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be employed by or own a firm engaged in the remodeling of kitchens and bathrooms
- Adhere to NARI’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
- Have a minimum of five years continuous experience in the remodeling industry
- Have completed four kitchens and/or bathrooms per year
- Completed 16 hours of continuing education
- Successfully completed a comprehensive application that details their background and experience
- Successfully complete a one-day written examination on business, construction, and remodeling practices related to kitchen and bathrooms
- Submit all required application materials and fees
The CKBR Study Group fine tunes each student’s competencies in all areas essential to success as a residential remodeling professional that specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling. The CKBR Study Group is a facilitated program that builds their knowledge in the areas of residential remodeling specific to kitchen and bathrooms and serves as preparation for the Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) exam.
NARI Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodelers (CKBRs) provide remodeling services specific to kitchens and bathrooms. To become a CKBR, candidates must possess skills and knowledge focused on the requirements of materials, layout, and installation of kitchens and bathrooms.
What else are we up to in terms of education?
Joel, Stacey and Kelsey are preparing to become UDCP’s (Universal Design Certified Professional).
The UDCP develops universal design and construction competencies in the professional conducting residential remodeling projects. The UDCP course is a structured class of universal design and remodeling fundamentals and serves as a prep course for UDCP Certification.
NARI Universal Design Certified Professionals are recognized as experienced remodelers with skills and knowledge in all aspects of universal design and remodeling.
Requirement for certification as a UDCP:
- Be primarily engaged in remodeling
- Have a minimum of two years continuous experience in the remodeling industry
- Adhere to NARI’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
- Completed a minimum of 8 hours of universal design remodeling/building-related education or be enrolled in the NARI Universal Design course
- Successfully completed a comprehensive application that details their background and experience
- Successfully complete a written examination addressing knowledge areas related to universal design fundamentals, client needs assessments, project design, construction techniques, electrical systems, plumbing systems and exterior universal design considerations
- Submit all required application materials and fees
