“The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards are the most prestigious awards given in the remodeling industry. Contractors from around the country vie for the awards on an annual basis. Winners are recognized for excellent workmanship and professional achievements. This competition enables NARI members to compete in 27 different categories locally, regionally and then nationally. Winners are selected by a panel of impartial judges who are experts in the remodeling industry and related fields. Entries are judged for problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation” (NARI Press Release, December 13th, 2012.)
On December 7th, 2012 at the Annual NARI Awards Gala, Joel Walter (Owner) accepted a first place CotY Award for “Residential Addition Over $250,000.”
NJW Construction submitted a project we like to call the “man cave.” This Central Ohio room addition was built as a completely separate entity from the existing residence, but designed to emulate architectural details from the home. NJW lived up to their reputation as one of the best residential construction companies in Central Ohio, by creating a hunting lodge/man cave/mother-in-law suite full of innovations and detailed work. Challenges during this residential addition included: visually and architecturally linking the new addition and existing home, building a mother-in-law suite in the basement and creating emergency exits, managing the sound within the home theater area that is actually part of a larger room, and incorporating the “hunting lodge” theme without overwhelming visitors. NJW created a space perfect for entertaining and extra lodging, while adding the small details that the homeowner couldn’t have imagined but loved.
