ABOUT US

Joel Walter, President of NJW Construction, Inc., has worked in all facets of the construction business, building and remodeling homes in the Central Ohio area. Joel is a graduate of Ohio University with Bachelor’s Degrees in International Business and Business Management. From 1987 to 1996, he worked in retail sales and was a manager of a lumber company. The job requirements included kitchen and bath design, contractor sales and providing home estimates. In 1996, upon leaving retail, Joel founded NJW Construction, Inc. 

On January 26, 2006, Joel achieved the prestigious Certified Remodeler (CR) status. This designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, technical comprehension and skill in remodeling. 

On June 11, 2018, Joel Walter accomplished, through a 16-week intense study education program, his certification for Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodeler (CKBR) through Nari’s comprehensive review and testing in areas of business management, ethical conduct and technical skills.  This program measures skills and expertise valued by other professional remodelers and consumers, as well as tests knowledge and skills of business methods, practices, building codes, construction laws, kitchen and bath planning, building site layouts and all trade skills required to remodel in homes of clients. 

On June 11, 2018, Joel Walter became a certified Universal Design Certified Professional (UDCP). This prestigious certification is a 16-week course study with testing to prove superior knowledge, technical comprehension and skills in principles; bringing into play proven knowledge, understanding and consideration of special needs persons, future thinking and planning for families and  aging-in-place  families. A remodeler must know how to properly interview such clients with consideration and understanding of the special needs, if presented. 

On January 6, 2010, Joel completed a Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Course and is certified for lead-based paint removal; recertification completed December of 2014.
